Tips shine at prestigious awards night

Last night some of the best projects, events and community initiatives from NSW councils were recognized at the Local Government Week Awards, held as part of Local Government Week.

Local Government Minister Wendy Tuckerman said the awards recognize innovative projects and outstanding work by councils and council staff across the state.

“I’m so proud of the work done every day in the local government sector and it’s wonderful to see so many outstanding and innovative projects highlighted during the 2022 Local Government Week Awards,” said Ms Tuckerman.

“Councils are at the heart of daily life in NSW communities and the Local Government Week Awards are an opportunity to highlight the important work they do.

“I would like to congratulate all the winners who have gone above and beyond for their communities.

Organized by NSW local government and presented at Sydney’s Fullerton Hotel, the awards include the prestigious RH Dougherty Awards, Leo Kelly OAM Arts and Culture Awards, LGNSW Planning Awards and NSW Youth Week Awards. Among this year’s winners were:

  • Gilgandra Shire Council, RH Dougherty Award (Division A, Population under 30,000)
  • Woollahra Town Council, Leo Kelly OAM Arts and Culture Award (B Division, population 30,000-70,000)
  • Penrith City Council, LGNSW Planning Awards (C Division, population over 70,000)
  • Yass Valley Council, NSW Youth Week Awards (Most Innovative Youth Week Programme)

Local Government Week runs from Monday August 1 through Sunday August 7.
