Monday July 18

Wilmington City Council will hold an agenda briefing at 8:30 a.m. at City Hall, 102 North 3rd St. The meeting can be streamed live on GTV8 and YouTube.

Kure Beach Town Council will hold a regular meeting at 6 p.m. at 117 Settlers Lane. The meeting can be streamed live here. The agenda includes an ongoing discussion on when to allow dogs on the beach, as well as updates from the committee.

Southport Planning and Zoning Board and Alderman’s Council will hold a joint workshop at 6 p.m. at the Southport Community Building, 223 East Bay St. They will review the results of the two impact assessments that have been completed regarding the proposed Indigo Plantation Phase 2 project. ​​Brunswick County Board of Commissioners meets at 6 p.m. for its regular meeting in the Commissioner’s Rooms at 30 Government Center Dr. The agenda can be found here.

  • To ask Commissioners to approve the agreement to purchase the 911 Center’s primary and backup recording systems to replace the existing system which is at end of life – valued at $181,340 and 82% funded by the State, within approved FY22 budget.
  • The Commissioners on the application authorize the President and Clerk to execute the contract with the Harper Corporation-GC for $774,900 for the construction of the Sea Trail Sewage Improvement Project and associated budget amendment.
  • Application commissioners authorize the president and clerk to execute a professional services contract with Withers-Ravenel in the amount of $331,000 for engineering services, construction administration and administration of associated grants to the grant-funded Navassa Watermain Replacement Project.

The New Hanover County School Board will host a town hall at 5 p.m. at the Board of Education Center, 1805 S. 13th St. The meetings are streamed live here.

The Surf City Tourism, Promotion and Special Events Sub-Committee will meet at 1:30 p.m. at the Surf City Civic Complex, 214 W. Florence Way.

The Wilmington City Council will meet at 6:30 p.m. at City Hall, 102 North 3rd St. The meeting can be streamed live on GTV8 and YouTube. A few items on the agenda:

  • A presentation on public safety and begging
  • A public hearing to rezone 50.17 acres located at 3152 S. 17th St. from office and institutional neighborhood to medium and high density residential to allow for residential development
  • Three ordinances and resolutions to accept additional Surface Transportation Block Grant money and local counterparts for three projects: $1.5 million for the Hook Road Multi-Use Trail; $662,500 for the Hinton Avenue multi-use pathway; and $812,500 for the Wrightsville Avenue and Greenville Avenue Intersection Improvement Project.

Brunswick County School Board will hold back-to-back meetings of the Curriculum/Policy Committee, Operations Committee, and Finance/HR Committee beginning at 9 p.m. in the Applied Science and Technology Center Boardroom at 1109 Old Ocean Hwy, Bolivia, North Carolina. The meeting can be streamed live here.

Wednesday July 20

The Pender County Board of Adjustment will meet at 9 a.m. in the Pender County Public Assembly Hall, 805 S. Walker St. in Burlaw. The meeting can be streamed live here. The agenda includes a request by Surf City Farm to appeal an administrative decision, which found that the sale of produce grown on other farms does not fall within the bona fide farming exemption established by the articles of association. General of North Carolina and is therefore subject to local zoning requirements.

The City of Wilmington Design and Adjustment Committee meets at 1:30 p.m. at City Hall, 102 N. 3rd St. Agenda items include a request for a waiver to street right-of-way standards on The Avenue and a waiver to collector street standards for a mixed-use project, Center Point, 541 Eastwood Road.

Bald Head Island Transportation Authority will meet at 9:15 a.m. at the Southport Community Building at 223 E. Bay Street to discuss the budget.

The Wrightsville Beach Board will hold a regular meeting at 5:30 p.m. in the council chambers located at 321 Causeway Drive. Watch the live stream here.

  • Review of creation of Deputy Chief and Deputy Fire Chief positions and approval of pay scale and grades.
  • Discussion/orientation on McKim and Creed’s proposal for water line upgrades to purchase all water from Cape Fear Public Utility Authority in the future and approval of Resolution 2275 approving the contract. Consider adopting Budget Order 572-B approving a budget adjustment in the amount of $75,000 to fund the proposal.
  • Hold a public hearing to consider an application by 1 Stone Street Partners, LLC, located at 4 North Lumina Avenue for a mixed-use permit to add three residential units and a storage unit above the Tower 7 restaurant. Learn more here .

Town Leland Visitor Center Meet at 4 p.m. at the town hall. Items on the agenda include the approval of a grant contract for an amphitheater at Founders Park.

Thursday July 21

Wilmington City Board of Adjustment will meet at 1 p.m. in the Harrelson Building, 115 North 3rd St. The meeting can be streamed live on GTV8 and YouTube. A few items on the agenda:

  • A waiver of the minimum side street setback for new construction in the Office and Institutional District at 1010 Ashes Dr.
  • A waiver of minimum building height requirements in the Central Business District at 319 Walnut St.
  • A deviation from the maximum number of wall panels per unit and maximum panel area per unit for a property in the Conditional Business Community District at 3846 and 3852 Carolina Beach Rd.

Topsail Beach Beach Inlet Sound Committee will meet at 2 p.m. The meeting can be streamed live on the Topsail Beach website.

The Oak Island Planning Board will meet in Council Chambers at 10:30 a.m. at City Hall, 4601 East Oak Island Dr. Meetings are streamed live here. The agenda includes:

  • Proposed modification of the R-7 medium density zoning map
  • Proposed changes to the text of the Ordinance Code

  • Acceptance of donation of remaining property of North Carolina Department of Transportation right-of-way
  • Multiple stormwater performance security agreements for various subdivisions and developments
  • Several voluntary annexations, including Malmo Ventures, LLC, Thomas Klutz, Paul Klutz, and The Estate of Glenna Marinaro
  • Allocation of $3.5 million from the General Fund to the Capital Projects Fund for Property Acquisition to fund future land purchases

The town of Navasse will hold a council meeting at 7:30 p.m. at City Hall, 334 Main Street. No agenda has been released at the time of going to press.

The CCFC Board of Directors will hold a meeting at 5 p.m. at Union Station, 502 N Front St. No agenda has been released at time of printing.

The ABC Council of New Hanover County will meet at 9:00 am at 6009 Market St. The agenda has not been released at the time of printing.

North Carolina State Port Authority Human Resources Committee will meet at 4 p.m. in the boardroom of the North Carolina Maritime Building, 2202 Burnett Blvd.
