A survey that ended earlier this month shows that local businesses are generally more optimistic than they were at the same time last year.
The Brighter Together survey conducted by the Lethbridge Chamber of Commerce and Economic Development (EDL) is conducted annually to collect data from the Lethbridge and surrounding business community.
Of the 160 companies that took part in the survey, 74% were satisfied with the overall health of their business, up from 63% in 2020.
“Leveraging our community brand is a great way to partner with EDL and reach out to Lethbridge businesses to learn what’s working, what’s not, and most importantly, how organizations like ours can help,” Cyndi said in A press release. Bester Vos, CEO, Lethbridge Chamber of Commerce.
She said they have used data gathered from previous surveys to put work plans in place, offer support and information to businesses in need and also identify trends in the business world that they can report to all levels of government.
This is the third year in a row that the survey has been conducted under the Lethbridge Brighter Together community brand.
Brighter Together survey results showed that the greatest strengths for doing business in the Lethbridge area include quality of life, transportation infrastructure and a collaborative environment.
It also shows that the three biggest challenges to doing business in the Lethbridge area include utility costs, fiscal environment and labor availability.
It shows that 54% of businesses surveyed reported moderate or substantial growth and 61% of businesses expect to be busier than normal over the next six to 12 months.
The results also indicate that rising input costs, recruiting and retaining skilled employees, combined with unpredictable swings in consumer demand, are barriers that businesses are concerned about over the next year.
New to the Brighter Together survey this year was the addition of a Brighter Together success story. Businesses were asked to respond to what they like about operating in Lethbridge, how their business embraces the message of Brighter Together, or provide a positive experience they have had in the past 12 months.
Of the many companies that responded, A-Win Insurance (Solutions Group) was chosen as the recipient of a Brighter Together marketing package and had its company and history highlighted at this year’s State of the City event. morning.
“We are honored that our story represents the broader business community here in Lethbridge and in southern Alberta, so many businesses are doing so many great things to help elevate our community,” a statement from press Tania Stilson, CEO, A-Win Insurance (Solutions Group).
The full results of the survey will be published by January 31, 2021 on http://www.chooselethbridge.ca and http://www.lethbridgechamber.com.
