Local governments across Australia are encouraged to nominate outstanding projects that will be recognized in this year’s National Awards for Local Government.
Now in his 36’se year, the awards highlight the achievements and positive impact of local governments on their communities through the work they do to apply creative and personalized solutions to improve community outcomes.
Submissions are welcome for projects in eleven award categories, including Creativity and Culture, Productivity through Infrastructure, Regional Growth, Cohesive Communities, Road Safety, Addressing Violence in the respect for women and their children, women in local government, indigenous recognition, career start-up, waste management and disaster preparedness.
Previous award-winning projects range from the City of Melville (WA) Smart City, Smart Grid project which uses real-time data to improve efficiency and sustainability, to the Paroo Shire Council in Queensland’s collaboration with the Cunnamulla to help local youth develop life skills. and removing barriers to employment through the Blue Light Learner Driver program.
