A packed schedule of side events will wrap up Guernsey’s third Sustainable Finance Week.

The week-long program, which runs from September 19-23, will focus on three critical global themes – carbon markets and pricing, biodiversity and energy transition.

Outside of the main Sustainable Finance Week calendar, 22 side events are planned by organizations including the Guernsey Chamber of Commerce, Institute of Trustees, Guernsey Association of Trustees, Guernsey International Insurance Association and Guernsey Investment & Funds Association.

Topics include:

  • why what we invest in pensions can be a force for good,

  • corporate governance and climate risk,

  • sustainable talent development, and

  • responsible investment for insurers.

Lead sponsors PwC and RBSi will hold events, PwC exploring new nature-based frameworks and opportunities, and RBSi will explain the role of alternative investment funds in the transition to net zero.

The Guernsey Financial Services Commission is also hosting a Meet the Regulator session, where the Commission will discuss its approach to regulated sustainable finance and recent consultations on greenwashing and natural capital.

The Society will welcome Professor Martin Siegert, co-director of the Grantham Institute. Professor Siegert led the Lake Ellsworth Consortium – a UK NERC-funded program which designed an experiment to explore a large subglacial lake under the ice of West Antarctica. He has undertaken three field seasons in Antarctica and will talk about his research in Antarctica, what it tells us about climate change and what action society should take.

Guernsey Finance’s Head of Strategy and Sustainable Finance, Stephanie Glover, said: “The wide variety of topics and depth of expertise within the fringe calendar demonstrates Guernsey’s commitment to finance initiatives. sustainable.

“We are grateful to all organizations involved; with key events scheduled, top-notch speakers and experienced panelists, our third Sustainable Finance Week is shaping up to be a world-class event.”
