Understanding Dominica's weather patterns will allow vacationers to not only plan the perfect time of year for them to visit the island, but also what time of day is best for them to participate in their favorite activities.
Avoiding travel to Dominica during bouts of severe weather is the top goal of most vacationers. For those who don't want to leave anything to chance, the months of December through May offer the coolest days, and January through May the least chance of precipitation. July and October are the island's rainiest months, so bring a raincoat and umbrella if you visit during this time.
The chart below indicates average temperatures for each month by time of day. Note that early morning and evening when the sun is low in the sky is when the island experiences the coolest temperatures, and as the sun rises, so does the temperature. View the final column for the overall average temperature for each month of the year.
